New Year, New Goals, New Rules

So it’s a new year and everyone has resolutions that may be broken by the first of the second month into the year. What new years resolutions have you written that you may have already broken? It’s ok if you have broken one or two. Get back on them and keep pressing forward! We still have 350 days to cover. So let’s get going! Motivate, Inspire, Change Lives and Jump into Action.

Get your calendar, notebook, journal, dream book, or whatever it is that you enjoy writing your dreams and read what you have written and write some more!  I have realized there are times when you have to look back and review what you have written and achieved (or not) in order to see how far you have gotten.

One of my goals this year is to read more books that will help me reach my goals. I have already read a book by Terri Savelle Foy “Dream Big” and it has impacted my life greatly! If you do not like to read there is also the option of listening to podcasts  or audiobooks. Learn, learn, learn and move, move, move unto a better place, unto a better position, unto a better state of mind. The point is to move and not be mediocre.

I challenge you to get your hands on books, articles, attend conferences and seminars that will challenge you to jump into your destiny. Surround yourself by positive people. Take away the negative and recognize when the negative energy reaches your space.

This year, I am going to jump into action and no longer be a wimp or give excuses. I love the acronym that Florida Hospital has on their welcome card (laying on the hospital bed) when you are admitted as an inpatient or outpatient – CREATION.

C- Choice

R- Rest

E- Environment

A- Activity

T- Trust

I- Interpersonal Relationships

O- Outlook

N- Nutrition

After reading their philosophy, I was reminded that in life there should be a balance. At times, we lose that balance when we focus too much on one thing and then all others areas of our lives suffer the neglect.

So, time to get back in the game to focus and keep the balance going. What do you do when you fall off your list of things to do? What is it that helps you stay on track? Is it a phone app? List of things to do on paper? A planner? All are great and the best part is that you use  what works for you.

Live, learn and move on!

2016 will be the best year ever~

I Am Woman: Here Me Roar

Must I roar to be heard? Do I necessarily have to make a big deal in order to be heard? Or, should I simply act quiet and not make my opinion known. In the workplace, in school, at home, and yes even at church. Women have been given many tools in order to advance their skills and talents and many are taking advantage of them. We have more women in office, police academies, construction, in the medical field and in church leadership to name a few. I am a woman, Latina, educated, bilingual, talented in many ways and did I mention, a Christian. I love to hear about other women graduating from institutions, receiving an achievement award and accomplishing what they are passionate about.

Over a week ago, my family and I traveled back up to New York City to represent my sister and accept her Master’s degree in Social Work at Hunter College. What an honor I thought to myself and then thought my sister would have loved to have seen all our faces at the school ceremony…I bet she was smiling down from heaven along with my younger brother! It has only been a little over two months since she passed away to be with the Lord due to bronchial asthma.

She was inspiring to others and her colleagues and classmates were very proud of her. And, of course we were too! She made a difference in the Latino/a community and it definitely continues to resonate as I hear their stories. Her friends and colleagues contact me to tell me their stories about my sister and how she made them laugh-she made everyone feel really loved!

Just the other day I was talking with my mother about the different kinds of behavior and how many of us lack love and I said if we could just love because “love covers all things” (Proverbs 10:12) and the following scripture came to mind:

John 15:9-17 (NIV)

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other.”

My sister definitely loved the people she touched on a daily basis and I can see how she did that. She simply loved them! What an honor to have spent 40 years with my sister and to later have more friends added to my friend’s list because she made a huge impact in their lives!

Are you bearing much fruit?

Are you remaining in His love?

What legacy will you leave behind?

I am woman, here me roar! I could never say that growing up but now I have every reason too! God is my Savior, my Friend and I will shout it from the rooftops!

p.s. I apologize for not writing for the past week or so. Traveling took my time away for a bit but I’m back and looking forward to writing frequently.

Godspeed!

what are you doing today?

what are you doing today?

I slept in today…the first is so long! It was well deserved. I worked hard and played little in 2013!

Today is the first day of the rest of 365 days in 2014! Everyone is pumped up and motivated to get their year started.. If we were like this 365 days of the year imagine all that we are able to accomplish! Some of us are driven that way and others well…let’s just leave at that. I think of the scripture that we read last night – Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” just before we brought in the new year and I’m reminded that God will always stretch out his right hand to protect me and to give me strength. I pray the same for you as you begin 2014 inspired, motivated and encouraged to do what your little heart desires to do! Be encouraged and keep seeking for His kingdom because as we all well know that God will grow our little world with many blessings.

Begin 2014 right where you are!

wisdom comes fr…

wisdom comes from above~

Proverbs 31:26 “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”

I’m ending this year with my very first blog post but starting the new year filled with wisdom and knowledge able to share with all godly women interested in growing and knowing more (I am not professing to know more by the way…I’m far from it…I am continuously growing in this journey we all call life). The quote for today comes from Proverbs 31:26 “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” Growing up in a Hispanic home I was taught to speak when I had permission to speak. I respected my elders, authorities and most especially my parents. They were and still are my godly role models. I learned to be silent in God’s presence through them as well. They taught me that wisdom is not taught but that it comes from Heaven and that it is a gift. My challenge for women today and moving forward into 2014 is to seek for God and His wisdom so you can speak into other women’s lives. Bring yourself to a stillness so you can hear what God is whispering in your ear in order to walk in His fullness. Will you take that challenge with me? Email me at growinggodlywomentoday@live.com and I may post your thoughts on a future blog post with your permission. Please note: no profanity, obscure photos, spam, junk mail, or promotions accepted-they will go to spam/junk heaven. Only godly interests and curious godly questions. I will try to response courteously and in a timely fashion. Thank you kindly~God speed!
